Voici un texte en anglais que j'ai lu dans un newsgroup :
Before you guys all flame me, I know this has nothing to do with this
newsgroup, but we obviously are all using computers. So I just want to warn
all of you running XP of a serious WinXP security threat.
If you are running any WinXP operating system (WinXP Home, Pro or Corporate)
go to C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\System\DFS and rename or delete
uplddrvinfo.htm immediately.
Microsoft has released a new service pack that fixes this but it is a huge
download. The service pack contains many more fixes but this is the most
important one. They have managed to keep it from the public until it was
shown on Tech TV today.
On the show they demonstrated how someone could hide a simple little command
in an e-mail or html document that does not even require you to click on or
open anything for it to activate. It has the ability to delete any or all
files on your computer, including Windows system files.
They released the info on TV because when you try to download the Service
Pack (which they strongly recommend doing) it does a check of your product
key to determine if it is a valid or pirated copy. If it determines your
copy is pirated, the install quits halfway through. The trouble is, it
identified some of the TV studios WinXP computers as having invalid product
keys, which is highly unlikely. It seems to be identifying some legal copies
as pirated, making it impossible to install the service pack. Plus many
users are on slow modem dialups and this pack can be as high as 149 megs,
depending on how up-todate your system is, and would require a very lengthy
download time.
If you are worried that this is just a scare, don't delete it, just rename
it. That way you can always restore it. But don't ignore it. Now that it has
been made public, someone will have a malicious e-mail or web site up and
ready within hours. According to the show it is a very simple process, and
now that they have identified the file, they just made it easier.
A sign that it is happening to you is if your Help and Support Center opens
and you didn't open it. If it does happen, don't close it. Do the
Ctrl-Alt-Del thing and end it. That won't save all your files, just the
hidden files and folders. Check to see if your Windows files are gone. If
so, and you shut down your computer, it will not restart. You have to do a
complete re-install.

Pour ceux qui n'ont pas installer le SP1...ca peut-être très utile !
